My Month of “Victory”
Little Dayo ran down the stairs excitedly for his sister had just given him an amazing news which he just must confirm. So he runs to the study looking for mummy who always has the answers to his question. When he got there panting, a furtive glance showed him she was not there. ‘Now that's odd. Mummy is always in the study by this time of the day.' He thought to himself. Does he give up the search? Oh no! This news has to be confirmed. So he runs to the garden, mummy's second favourite place and indeed there she was in the cool shade of the fruit tree. Dayo ran over and lovingly ran his hand over her cheek. Mummy turned to him with a smile, 'Hello handsome, to what do I owe this visit at play time? Is your sister tired?' 'Mummy, is it true that next month is Easter?' Dayo asked excitedly. O, yes son, we will be celebrating Easter in three weeks from today. Wow! So Becky is right. That means we get a holiday from school soon. Mom could we plan the Easter menu and games very soon! 'Take a breath son; you are practically holding your breath.' Dayo chuckled, took a deep breath then gave his mum his "I am your adorable son look", 'so mum, when do we plan it all?' His mummy looked at his charming face and thought to herself, 'Thank you Lord for this gift'. At that same moment, a thought hit her. Dayo was not excited about the essence of Easter but the holiday, food and fun that marks the celebration of the season. Now this thought saddened her.
Easter to mummy is a time to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice, gift and manifestation of love shown by God to His children through the death of his son Jesus Christ.
A time to ponder on the long journey down to earth for us, then he took a painful trip to the cross to rid us of sin and the consequence thereof. He didn't stop there, but went on to conquer death and today He
is seated on the right hand of God.
A time to search our lives and try to tailor it to the life style of our model, the Prince of peace who walked on this earth that we might learn from him how to live a life of righteousness. A time to rejoice in the hope he has given for he is Christ, our hope of glory. A time to share with others the word of God, testimonies of his faithfulness and the beauty of his loving kindness.
Dayo's mummy was sad because she had until this point allowed family traditions, customs of their denomination and the commercialization of Easter, paint the wrong picture for her children such that all they think of at Easter is a time to have as much fun as possible. Well this year, she is going to add a new Easter programme and that would be a time to share the word and explore Jesus' sojourn on earth!
Mummy looked at her wonderful son, who was presently looking at her with a confused expression on his face because mummy had looked really sad a minute ago. She gave him a big smile and said, 'Dayo, we will plan the menu and games but that is not all we need to plan.' 'Mom, what new fun idea do you have? Well first, we need to rejoin your sister upstairs then we talks about it.
Dear brethren, what is Easter to you and your loved ones? The true essence of Easter must not be eroded
'The death and resurrection which establishes Jesus as the powerful Son of God and is cited as proof that God will judge the world in righteousness. God has given Christians "a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead". Christians, through faith in the working of God are spiritually resurrected with Jesus so that they may walk in a new way of life. ╦
You are welcome to your month of “Victory”.
