TEXT: II KINGS 4: 1-7
The widow was in very dire need. She had a husband who feared the Lord but did not believe in prosperity. He made it to heaven but died poor. And he left a lot of problems for his wife and sons. It was so bad that the creditors came to take the children in place of the money owed. This widow was not only poor, she was destitute. She cried to the One that is all-sufficient and in less than one day all her needs were met.
God is sufficient for your physical needs. It does notmatterhow sick you are, I Pet. 2: 24 shows that God has already made provision for your total healing.
God is sufficient for your material needs. From III John 2 we see that God does not just want you to be healthy He also wants you to have enough money to meet your needs as it is written in Phil. 4: 19. If you are in debt my God will help you to pay in a way you cannot understand in Jesus’ name.
God is sufficient for your spiritual needs. John 8: 36 makes us to understand that the Son of God has made us free and so no matter what is holding you bound you shall be set free. Whether they are demons from your mother’s house, father’s house, in-laws or husband’s house, you shall be set free.
God is sufficient for your need to do the works of God. In Acts 1: 8, we see that provision has been made also for you to have power to work the works of God. If you are hungry for power to do God’s work He is all-sufficient to meet your need.
God is sufficient for your children. From our text we see that it was not only the woman that was in trouble but her children also. God is not only sufficient for the parents He is also sufficient for the children (Psalm 37:25). None of your children will ever become beggars. The reason He made provision for children is because they are His heritage (Psalm 127: 3). He has a very special interest in children. When children came to Him and His disciples tried to chase them away Jesus prevented them. He that carried the children then and blessed then will do it for you now.
God is sufficient for your present need. Psalm 46: 1 says He is a very present help. Our needs differ. Some are in the future, but there are some we must have right now. Whatever may be your present need, the ever present help will take care of it in Jesus’ name. Because you will discover in Exodus 3: 15 when He was giving His name to Moses He said I am that I am, the God of the present. In Matt. 6: 9-11 when He was teaching His disciples to pray He asked them to ask for their present need. Also Psalm 23: 1 says The Lord is my shepherd, not ‘will be’. There is a God who has gone to prepare a place for us. He can meet our present need.
God is sufficient for your future. In taking care of the widow and her children He shows that He is sufficient for our future also because the children were her future. According to Rev. 1: 8 God is not only the Alpha, He is also the Omega. He is not only the beginning, He is also the end. And in Isaiah 3: 10, God says it shall be well with you. Don’t worry about tomorrow; it is already taken care of. God will take care of your future.
God is sufficient for your enemies. The creditor who wanted to take the children is not a friend. Anyone who wants to sell your children wants to destroy your destiny, your future. The good news is that when they came the next day, their money was waiting. The almighty God frustrated their plans. Whatever plans the enemies has for you or your children shall be frustrated in Jesus’ name. Because the bible calls Him the Lord of hosts as we see in Psalm 24: 7-10. Jesus Christ is not a civilian. Isaiah 54: 17 says no weapon formed against you shall prosper and Psalm 23: 5 says He prepares a table for you in the presence of your enemies. All those who say you will not reach your goal, the Lord of hosts will deal with them in Jesus’ name. God is more than sufficient for your enemies.
In Matt. 11: 28-30 Jesus asks you to come to Him no matter what your problem may be. But you must be willing to take His yoke upon you. You must come under a new management. You must be willing to do whatever He asks you to do. And when you compare your life with Him to the life you had with the devil you will see that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. ╦
